Tarik, Shillong’s itinerant secret subverts, release its latest bi-lingual music video single ‘Dare to think’. This is the band’s first single since their 13 city debut album tour earlier this year.
‘Dare to think’ was inspired by the drivers of shared taxis and the unemployed of Shillong, their understanding of the city and its politics. It is also a comment upon the social pressures and anxieties felt by many young people, the world over.
No tanks were harmed in the making of this video.
Tarik is Valte Chawngthu, Nikolaus Gerold and Wanphrang Diengdoh
I am not the image
I am not the image
Society reflects my reality
I am not the image
I am not the image
Society reflects my reality
Vendors of hope now you go hide
We have found our own light
You can run a country on your fables
I stand in solidarity with my allies
Dare to think
And dare to act
Educate and organise
Educate and organise

(Fellow citizens this is an announcement.
We are stopping the supply of ration such as rice, kerosene and sugar
Because there are among you who have been questioning authority.
Your duty is not to question authority
Your duty is just to follow follow follow follow)
Vendors of hope now you go hide
We have found our own light
You can run a country on your fables
I stand in solidarity with my allies
