Suggest names for Meghalaya #Lokayukta NOW to fight corruption
Nothing ever happens in Meghalaya without ‘street politics’. It was a sustained people’s movement that brought about the anti-corruption’ law of Lokayukta in Meghalaya.
But this progressive law remained non function till the people had to come out and protest, demanding that the government should wake up and implement the law.
3 years on and Meghalaya government has finally set up a ‘Search Committee’ for finding suitable people to be Lokayukta. The Search Committee comprises G.P Wahlang as Chairman, B.B Dutta, L.M Sangma, Theilin Phanbuh and S.G Momin as members. It is important that we as citizens suggest names for Lokayukta to the Search Committee. If you want you can suggest the names or inspire people to apply for the post. Please send in your ideas for names to [email protected] or [email protected]. We shall collect all such suggestions and put it out to this Search Committee. Last date 6th March 2017.
