Thma U Rangli salutes Ma Hoping Stone Lyngdoh, the original radical of the Hill State Movement and and an uncompromising opponent of Uranium mining in Meghalaya.
We remember our recent meeting in May this year with Ma Hoping, when in frail frame he agreed to talk to us about Village Administration Bill of KHADC and our critique of it. He wanted to hear whole eighteen pages of our critique. And as there was no private secretary in sight, he officially received our representation and personally stamped it. No trappings of political power there.
Some photos from that meeting:

Ma Hoping maintained his political curiosity right till the end, always examining issues in Meghalya vis-a-vis its meaning for the indigenous people of the state. Whether it was the sixth schedule or the autonomous state or his stand on Uranium mining. TUR was meeting Ma Hoping to apprise him of our critique of the Village Administration Bill 2015 as proposed by KHADC. May 2015
